This is a deep pic! I like it alot.

Front page this bad ass! Great scrulpture, I love how you rendered this. I have such a difficult time rending images appropriately in zbrush.

Great accuracy

Almost looks like a photograph you payed great attention to detail here

Good Job!

My favorite TMNT! The anatomy could use a lot of work though. The red is far too flashy. Great job on the smoke though. The background doesn't seem to fit in with the foreground. Raph looks very comic book-ish but the background looks like an amazing digital painting. I love your work but I would like to see more originality.

EvilRaccoon responds:

Dude. There is nothing wrong with the anatomy in this, A Turtle front shell isn't shaped to follow human muscle. So before giving "crits" I suggest you look at the original versions instead of the crappy remake which is out now.

And originality...lol
Hi Pot. Hi Kettle. You haven't done anything original!

Kick-Ass

This should be front page! Being an artist myself I can tell how much effort you put in to making this!

Must be in Calendar 2011!!

Great display of colors and characters. This is an amazing work of graphic design. Not to mention its very minimalist which people tend to like a lot. I love the idea over all! As said above it has to be in the calendar. Its 100% eye candy!

I had to do color theory in design school (which was COMPLETE SHIT lol). One thing I learned in the color theory is the spectrum goes from Red to Blue. Basically it goes Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Cyan, Blue, Purple, Brown, Red again. Even though your color scheme doesnt follow that pattern its still well done because of the characters.

Seems to me like you placed them as seasons, left to right (Summer, Autumn, Winter, Spring)

5/5

Valerofond responds:

Ha ha thanks man, no intention at all to place them in seasons but what do you know

Superb

Jouste I love your art style. It's cartoony and clean. Do you draw then traced your line art in Adobe Illustrator? Or is it a direct scan that you color?

This would make a great poster

jouste responds:

actually all my lines are freehanded in sketchbook pro and then i color it in photoshop. i'm gonna post up the bigger version in my news post so you can print one out for yourself!

*highfives*

Pro!

This is so high quality it reminds me of the art style in Disney movies.

TheEz responds:

Yeesh! I can't imagine having to draw THIS for frame by frame! D: Poor Disney people.

But thanks so much; that's a huge compliment! :D

Can't wait to see the finished version

Wow dude, great texture! Im curious now lol I wanna see bulbasaur and charmander

Dioccino responds:

Thanks! I'm in love with the texturing too. Honestly I was planning to make a scene of Squirtle versus Charizard--it'd be titled "Level 100 squirtle!?"

Looks Promising!

This straight up looks like it is worthy to be printed on a poster if it wins the madness contest. Hope you made it at 300 DPI. Since you are my fellow competitor for the madness contest I have to write a critique for this mad submission.

The image is action packed, the expression on certain characters really sets the mood of the image and the big clown head well that is perfect to show how powerful he really is. There is so much detail in your artwork that it can make people just stare at it for hours. It's like trying to find Waldo lol in all this Madness. The art style is pretty different from all the other entries as well. Its also cool how the dark areas aren't black they have a different color to them.

The only improvements I could suggest would be to re-work the line art. It seems like you inked your drawing and scanned it. It would look cleaner if it was traced in Photoshop or Illustrator; but that would be suicide lol. The background seems lazy too, if there was a scene in the back it would definitely add to the atmosphere. The typography could use work too, the main image screams out madness but the title doesn't.

Overall this image is a great tribute to madness. Perhaps one of the greatest :)

adamkav responds:

thanks for the critique. lazy is a bit harsh considering the amount of time and detail put in to the over all piece, i tried other backgrounds but i found more detailed backgrounds took away from the image and didn't have the contrast i was looking for.

I'm cool.
